Who is Breanna Nix on American Idol season 23?
25-year-old singer from Denton, Texas, Breanna Nix reached to the top 3 on American Idol‘s season 23. The stay-at-home mom to her son, Emerson, is now a sensational singer who have captured hearts of millions.
During her audition, she entered the room with her husband and a son. Carrie, the judge agreed to hold son in her lap as Nix performed, while her husband Austin accompanied her on piano.
Breanna performed Carrie’s 2005 track, ‘Jesus, Take the Wheel,’ while her toddler son nod off to sleep in Carrie’s lap.

Breanna Struggled With Her Weight
In her audition, an intro video of her was aired, where she shared about her weight. She said she always had weight issues, and also revealed she was around 315 pounds when her son was born.
She said,
“Emerson was a blessing I didn’t know I needed. I was overweight my whole life, always the bigger girl. Right after I had my son, I was over 315 pounds. I just remember being in the delivery room and just looking down at him knowing that, if I wanted to be the best mom that I could, this lifestyle was not going to work. I decided to lose weight.”
Moreover, she also said that she attempted to lose weight so that her son would know anything is possible.
Her Weight Loss Journey
Brianna kept records of her weight loss on her Instagram, just to keep herself accountable. She made a post what she was eating on Instagram along with hashtags that include #53poundsgone and #foodisfuel.
After giving birth to her son Emerson, she shed 19 pounds and she took it to her Instagram and said,
“At 296.8lbs I didn’t see a way out. I felt hopeless. That word might be a little bizarre or extreme to you.. but it was the truth. I was literally so lost. I didn’t even know who I truly was. That’s shameful to say especially as a Christian… but I just didn’t.”
Along with this statement, she shared a photo of two dumbbells.

Nevertheless, she lost 74 pounds by late 2021, and by May 2022, she shed over 106 lbs. She wrote,
“Hard work is paying off!! 106 lbs. down.. only 50 left! 🤩”
On December 9, 2022, she took it to her Instagram and revealed how calorie deficit completely changed her life. She also revealed she lost over 120 lbs.

Husband Austin Nix Cried During Her Performance
Breanna’s husband Austin Nix is an entrepreneur, who loves playing piano for his wife. He accompanied with her in audition, and was there on Disney Night.

She chose a song from Tarzan movie, sang ‘You’ll Be In My Heart,’ originally written from a mother’s perspective. She was looking at her husband, son, and parents, and delivered the performance. Her husband shed tears when she was singing.
After the end of her performance, she revealed that her wedding day was the best day of her life. She continued,
“I felt like a Disney princess in my own movie. My husband is my rock, and I want him to know that he will always be my number one.”
