Vince Carter’s first wife — meet Ellen Rucker Sellers
Vince Carter, former professional NBA player is known for legendary dunks, had success in his life, but has failed once — his first marriage to Ellen Rucker, who is now Sellers.
Ellen is a chiropractor, who has now founded the company Rucker Roots, along with her sister Rucker Jamison. She is The University of North Carolina graduate, who now lives with her three kids, and second husband.
Ellen And Vince Were High School Sweethearts
Ellen and Vince met in their high school. They dated for a while and exchanged wedding rings in July 2004.
Almost a year after, the ex-paid welcomed a baby daughter, Kai Michelle Carter in June 1, 2005. However, after having a baby, their relationship went sour, and they parted ways in 2006.
Ellen Is Now Happily Married
After divorce, Ellen went silent for two years, until she met Bakari Sellers, who is an attorney, politician, and political commentator.
On February 14, 2024, Ellen took it to her Instagram, and revealed when she met her husband. She said,
“I prayed for this man and the Lord sure delivered! 🙌🏾 Happy Valentine’s Day @bakarisellers…♥️I am so grateful that I get to do life with you! I love you! ♾️ Photo: August 16, 2008, our first weekend of dating…Y’all, we were so hot & heavy, we couldn’t see straight, lol! 😻”

Although they met in 2008, they took their time understanding each other before tying the knot on August 29, 2015.
On August 30, 2023, Ellen also uploaded three of her wedding pictures on their 8th wedding anniversary. She captioned it,
“We have been through so much but our love & faith have always stayed strong! You wake up everyday and choose to love me (with my craziness and all, lol) and I love you right back! Happy Anniversary to the love of my life, my rock, & my best friend @bakarisellers … I love you endlessly! ♥️”
The pair is now living a happy life with their children.
Ellen Has Twins With Bakari
Four years after marriage, Ellen and Bakari welcomed their twins on July 1, 2019, and named them Stokely and Sadie Sellers.
In her personal blog, she revealed everything about her family, and titled the post as ‘Our Family is Growing.’

Because of an ‘unexplained infertility,’ Ellen and Bakari tried to conceive through IVF.
But their first attempt was unsuccessful, and tried for the second time with switching the doctor. The second attempt was successful, and she found out having twins.
Ellen Almost Died After Delivery
Ruckur never had any complication during her entire pregnancy, but during delivery she almost died.
She gave birth to two around 5:28 and 5:32, and Ellen spent time with her family for couple of hours. After 11 PM, she started feeling hot, and then she was out.
Later, she revealed that she almost died as she lost more than 75 percent of her blood supply. After that, her attending doctors, Dr. Octavia Cannon, Dr. Mala Freeman, and Dr. Sophia Paige placed her in ICU for 36 hours.
